Anointed for Business
Is it "Holy" to Claim You are Anointed for Business?
When we claim we are anointed for business, it can sound a little shocking. After all, is work really something we expect to be blessed by God. Unfortunately, many Christians separate their "work-life" from their "spiritual-life". Let's fix that, okay?
Paul said,"...whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
I'm supposing "whatever" means....well...whatever - including our work. We often see both the apostles and the disciples engaged in their 9-5 as fishermen, tentmakers, sellers of cloth. Yet, it never stops them from being powerful witnesses for Jesus and the Gospel.
Acts 16 tells us the story of Lydia of Thyatira - a seller of purple cloth - a luxury textile. And in Proverbs 31, we learn about a powerful, financially savvy businesswoman.
The writer of the Proverbs 31 also says she should be praised PUBLICLY for her excellence. And, she accomplishes all of this while still caring for her household and honoring her husband.
There are many, many scriptures which tell us the Lord wants us to be successful, but this one is my favorite:
"But remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant, which He swore to your ancestors, as it is today." Deuteronomy 8:18 NIV
The key of course is the first part of the verse: REMEMBER THE LORD YOUR GOD.
It's when we try to do all of this on our own, for our own glory, that we get in trouble.
So my Darling, keep Jesus first, seek first the Kingdom of God and know that "all these things will be added to you."
